Soprano Christina Bell hails from Goderich, Ontario, and has been a member of the Canadian Opera Company Chorus since 2015. As a soloist, she is frequently featured in concert, opera, and oratorio around Ontario. Miss Bell’s most recent performances include creating the role of Mrs. Trotter in the World Premier of SHOT with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and Countessa Almaviva in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO with Toronto’s Opera by Request. Other recent performances; Vitellia in LA CLEMENZA DI TITO; and MIRACLE FLIGHT 571 with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, where she created the role of Liliana. Christina holds an Honours Degree in Music Therapy from the University of Windsor; and is also a graduate from University of Toronto, with a Diploma in Operatic Performance. It was with UofT Opera she sang the roles of Lady Billows in Britten’s ALBERT HERRING; Lady with a Cake Box in Dominick Argento’s POSTCARD FROM MOROCCO; Mrs. Baggett in FOOTSTEPS at Campbell House; Donatella in ENCOUNTERS; and was a featured performer in LAST DAYS, a staging of songs and text from World War I, from the creative team of Tim Albery and David Fallis. Other recent operatic performances include Portia in Reynaldo Hahn’s LE MARCHAND DE VENISE; Cousin Hebe in H.M.S. PINAFORE; Mrs. Grose in THE TURN OF THE SCREW; Fiordiligi in COSÌ FAN TUTTE; and Helena in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM. As a young artist, Christina has also performed with Opera on the Avalon, the Centre for Opera Studies in Italy, the Halifax Summer Opera Festival, and the St. Andrews Summer Opera Workshop. In 2015, Christina had the privilege of representing Canada with the Toronto Korean-Canadian Choir and Sinfonia Toronto as a soloist for Vivaldi’s GLORIA, was the featured soprano soloist performing ARIRANG, one Korea’s most well-known and beloved folk songs.
